@Annie So many men don’t know how to make a sandwich let alone how to pilot a plane. They live their lives through their kids, hijacking their dreams. Like their fathers did to them.

@Annie My kid is “tired” a lot too. It helps to hear how another parent teases out the real feelings.

@davidmarsden It’s such a sad cycle. I have a lot of respect for the men who see it and choose to create something different with their own kids. It’s tough to break patterns but so powerful.

@gregmoore They sure do have a lot to process. Btw, here’s a book that helped me find some practical ways to be a better communicator with my kids.

@Annie Therapy and patience have gone a long way but sometimes emotions are just tough things to parse. I’ll definitely check that book out.

@Annie “… stared at my unmade bed for a hard minute. Too late. I’m up and moving and half a mug of coffee into this day now.” Been there: kids are out of the house, but the early dog walk has a similar effect.
