Looking for fitness trackers for my parents. They’re reasonably tech savvy 60 something’s that use Android phones. Simple is good but we’d like to “compete” to motivate each other. I have an Apple Watch. Looking for wearable and app suggestions that work with both. Any thoughts?

@bryan I'm 66 and have a Fitbit inspire and a Google pixel phone. The Fitbit was pretty cheap - about $60. The app lets you keep track of steps, miles, zone minutes and more. My health insurance covers Fitbit premium. I've been using it for about a year.

@bryan before I got an Apple Watch, I had a Fitbit and it was simple and solid, and a Garmin, which was more featureful and complex. Pretty sure both can work with Android so it might be a possibility.

@bryan I couldn't afford an Apple Watch so I went with a very simple Garmin Forerunner. (They very frequently go on sale.) It's platform agnostic, super simple to use, and comes with a bunch of fitness plans designed by professional instructors. A couple friends and I use the workouts to keep each other accountable.

@bryan I don’t think they are compatible. That might be an issue. In which case, maybe a Google watch and an app that goes across both

@bryan the only one I know of is Fitbit. You might be able to sync it with Apple Watch moved and then they can sync it on Android.
