@gregmoore Looks fantastic! Any chance that in the new year you’d be willing to write something for @custom about making your own theme?
@shep @odd Thank you very much.
@sod 🙇♂️ I owe you many thanks for all the tips you’ve contributed to help.micro.blog.
@annahavron 😸 Glad you like them. (Some would say I have too many cat photos!)
@Miraz Thanks 🙂 I’d be happy to if I could collect my thoughts into something useful. The best decision I made was nailing down all of my layout work before tackling Micro.blog’s particular flavor of Hugo. There’s no real guide on how to do it: Hugo has too much documentation while Micro.blog doesn’t have enough. I just searched and stumbled my way through each problem one-by-one.
@annahavron @gregmoore There is no such thing as too many cat photos.
And don’t call me Shirley.
@gregmoore That’s exactly why if you could put something up on @custom it would be so useful for others. 😀 No rush, of course. It could be one article, a series, a tutorial, a bunch of tips, a video — whatever!
@gregmoore the site looks great! Nice clean lines and I really like the category groupings on the right as way of jumping in.
@gregmoore Wow! Love it. Especially all your pages (Photos, Reading, and Music). I may bug you sometime on some design aspects.
@Miraz @gregmoore I would definitely love to read this. Although I’m sure it’s not above my skill level but I’m saving it for my retirement days to learn.
@gregmoore Well done. If you have a chance, I’d love to read about the stages that you went through.
@crossingthethreshold @pratik I appreciate it. I’ll try to come up with a way to pay some of my learning forward.
@meandering That’s great to hear because I put the categories up there just for that. Personal site content can be difficult to parse so I want to give people an excuse to poke around and maybe see something they like.
@Mtt Thanks for the inspiration. I 100% stole your idea to add the camera emoji before photo posts.
@Mtt Sadly, we end at that book because I’ve never even heard of it. (It takes me ages to finish reading stuff!)
@gregmoore Ha. Picked it for that reason. Amazing (and very different) book by a Pulitzer Prize winner (All the Light We Cannot See).
@gregmoore I’m happy to receive the blame for such progress! The site looks great; I assume it feels good to get version one out of the door. This has in turn inspired me further when it comes to my own sites so thanks right back at ye 👍
@Miraz Better late than never? I (finally) created a page with my Custom Theme Tips to try and help everyone.
