And if I had a boat
I’d go out on the ocean
And if I had a pony
I’d ride him on my boat
And we could altogether
Go out on the ocean
I said me upon my pony on my boat

@cliffordbeshers I went to see Sting, who was in a double-header concert with Lyle Lovett. I came away a Lovett fan and eventually aged out of Sting.

@ReaderJohn I remain more of a fan of Sting, but I consider them both to be musicians of greater talent and scope than most people realize. Lovett is growing on me slowly. I recognized his quality instantly, but much of his stuff doesn't connect with me emotionally. But if he wrote that boat song 50 times, that would be all I would listen to for a long time.

@gregmoore I'm pretty pleased with it, if I do say so myself.

@ReaderJohn I saw that same double-header. Great show.

In fact, I’ve seen The Police/Sting every time he’s toured the US.

Even the one thing I had booked before (and canceled by) the pandemic was seeing him in The Last Ship.

Big fan.

@patrickrhone Did you see it at Deer Creek near Indianapolis? I really don’t recall whether they were touring together. For decades, I almost never listened to any Pop music, having been brought up on classical and jazz. But occasionally something would catch my attention: Blood, Sweat & Tears, Chicago, Herbie Hancock and, at some point, Sting. And I just can’t help but like a lot of Western swing.

@ReaderJohn They came through and he Twin Cities here. I feel like that one was at The State Theater or Northrop Auditorium... They tend to blend together after time.
