I finally did it. I deactivated my Twitter account. Goodbye, you toxic little bird.
@greghiggins what prevents you from doing it? I had a little FOMO panic when I did it, but when I thought about it, it’ll impact my life not at all.
@sarcassem @greghiggins to me is , so many good accounts, they are few but still, That I'd hate to loose. I mean I clould jsut fallow those accounts thru Feedbin but I like to interact with said accounts or people. I almost did it no too long ago and logged back in 3 seconds later lol
@sarcassem I do sports reporting for local media outlets and Twitter updates are almost a neccessity when reporting on sports.
@Gabz @sarcassem I would like to quit Facebook but I can't do it for the same reason as twitter....too many parents/grandparents keep up with their kids via Facebook now.
@greghiggins Oh Facebook I deleted it happily LOL ,, No regrets there. I made a nice post with links to my site and basical;ly a 30 day notice
@greghiggins yeah it’s the only reason I haven’t purged Facebook yet. Well, that and the fact that a number of other services I use rely on Login with Facebook.
@sarcassem my only frustration is that so many businesses/developers use it as their only outlet for announcements. But the same is true for Facebook. I haven’t really looked back. In fact, Facebook & Twitter are blocked on my network.
@greghiggins it truly is. I feel like we were sold a bill of goods on Facebook, and while there ARE legitimately useful things to use the service for, I cant deal with the ease with which misinformation propagates.
I tend to want to defend or educate on things (aka argue on the internet), and it’s not necessarily my responsibility to do so. It just creates unnecessary stress. Lol
