After avoiding it for weeks, I began the 7-day trial for Ivory. Why did I do that? I know I will start liking this bloody app and pay for it 🤦🏽♂

@amit I signed up for the trial the other day and then immediately cancelled it. I’m still on the trial but this way I won’t forget in case I don’t want to pay for it.
@greghiggins @amit The thing I dislike is that they haven’t put the price anywhere on the website. Not even in their support document about subscriptions.
@amit There is a solution for your problem and it is Mona! I did like Ivory during the beta but Mona (still in Testflight) is a beautiful app and fully featured. Honestly, I don’t know why it’s not already on the app store. It will be a one-time purchase rather than a subscription. You might also try Woolly, another excellent app in testflight. There are so many excellent choices. Many of those in testflight are available to use and really solid as they are.
@amit yeah, I put it off too. Was hoping Mammoth or Ice Cubes would stick for me, but went back to Ivory because it just feels much nicer, imo. Haven’t had the chance to try Mona though, which I hear is quite good.
@pimoore can’t use Mona in TestFlight unless you purchase their other app (I believe), Spring, anyways. And I’m not interested in buying a Twitter app.
@greghiggins You can view most apps prices in the store page, under information it should be a list of In-App Purchases. Though, some exceptions exists. Some apps might have many legacy IAP’s that might muddy the water a bit. Eg. look at the same info for Twitter.
@timapple I like what I see – it is fluid no doubt. But I know I shouldn’t pay. The official app does the job :(
@timapple I’ll see if I can round up the testflight link for Woolly. Mona test flight is currently done through the developer’s Twitter app Spring so that’s kind of a no go at this point. From what I understand it will be for sale in the next month or so.
@greghiggins thanks for the reminder, just done the same. I use drafts multiple times per day, every day, every month … no way I can justify paying 25% more for an app that is ‘just nice’.
@JohnPhilpin Same. Drafts is essential to my workflow so I can justify paying for it. Mastadon is new to me and I’m not sure how much it’ll get used on a daily basis.
@Denny I don’t understand why they didn’t offer the TestFlight version to non-Spring users after the first few rounds. It would have been perfect for getting new users. I want to try it, but with so many Mastodon apps now, it will get difficult to switch once you get used to the app you are already using.
