@retrophisch Better than, say, Vincent Flynn's Mitch Rapp series? I enjoyed that and Baldacci's Camel Club series.

@gdp Gregory, apologies, I somehow missed your reply until now.

Given that Vince Flynn is Don's favorite thriller author, and that he used one of Flynn's Rapp books to learn how to plot and structure a story, I would say he learned his lessons very well. I wouldn't go so far to say Don wrote a stellar Vince Flynn book; that wasn't his aim.

His aim was to write a great Mitch Rapp book, and on that goal, he definitely hit the mark.

@gdp And I also just realized you weren't asking about Don Bentley's new Mitch Rapp book, but about Jack's Battle Born series.

Honestly, Jack's not to that level quite yet, but he's on his way. I thought the second in the series, Outlaw, read like vintage Clancy. It had all the hallmarks. Jack has also done his homework, while bringing his own experiences to bear.
