I read sometimes “retweets are not endorsements”. But then, what are they? (in the view of those who think this.)

@fabio I wonder about that too especially when you have a quote tweet feature that allows you to offer your opinion on the tweet.

@pratik @fabio Legally speaking? Retweets are endorsements. US courts treat retweets, likes, or anything similar as if they are original content. Teachers in my district have to sit through legal lectures for a full day at the beginning of every school and this is one topic they spend a lot of time on.

@fabio I don’t have this on any of my profiles but my hunch is (for people into politics) if they, for example, retweet an article that says “President signs bill into law” that they don’t necessarily endorse said bill and are simply retweeting because they find it newsworthy.
