Me: I’m sick of paying $50 a year for Feedbin
Also me: I’ll host my own FreshRSS instance with a .media domain name that renews for $60 a year

@grubz I took all the temptation out of it and went with managed Miniflux hosting. It’s like $15/year and has worked great for me for a few years now.
@kev @grubz I'm using Newsboat. It costs me exactly nothing. And I don't have to maintain or worry about anything.
You can't beat that! 😉
PS. Miniflux is good though! I have used it in the past. Some features are questionable designed though. Like how complicated filters are, or how they don't apply until you refresh the feed.
@hund @kev idk what’s going on today but my whole feed is full of posts about RSS! I was just looking at this scoreboard from OpenRSS someone posted and it looks like Newsboat and Miniflux both do things a little better than FreshRSS. Definitely didn’t have RSS rabbit hole on the schedule when I woke up lol
Edit: also, I got the .media domain name super cheap and didn’t realize the fucking thing renews for almost $60 a year after the first year 😵💫
@joel I really have been liking it so far. I tried to host it with namecheap on a shared server a while back and there was certain stuff I just couldn’t get right. But running it on PikaPods, it’s less than $2 a month for the actual hosting and everything just works
@kev you got me there. You can add your own css but there’s only so much you can do with that
