My boy @williamlacour turns 5 in a few months, and @cleverangel and I are considering getting him a video game system to help hone his fine motor skills. Is 5 too young? Are there any good games for kids this little on, say, the Switch?

@Zak I would go with a switch, my oldest 9 started on the Wii (we still have a Wii U just so they can play with Wii). The one issue I take is we have to stress co-play since these are also single use screens. Video game time most be a "together" activity...except when we call STFU protocol then we will buy pixelated silence.

@cleverdevil Nintendo is wicked good at building in assist modes in to their big-name games, like Mario, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong -- these modes make the games 100% playable and enjoyable for little kids. The assist mode in Mario Kart is awesome because you can turn it on and off per-player in a multiplayer match.

@eli And then there is Labo!!!!! If your kid is into any kind of sportsball though you will be following it up with a PS4 or XBOX....EA did well on FIFA but no other franchises yet.

@cleverdevil My boy just turned six. He’s played on Nintendo systems since he was about three.

The Switch has plenty of great games for a kid that age. His favorites include Mario Odyssey, Kirby Star Allies, Mario Kart, Snipperclips and many more.
