Spent the whole day acting as a doctor, nurse, cook, and child care professional. All of this without holding a single license!
Usually I also play driver, the one thing I’m actually qualified for, but not yesterday.

@pratik Well… in a way, yes. Or as a dad. I could never breastfeed but, other than that, the mom and dad job description is very similar around here.
@maique Parenting requires (actually builds) a broad set of skills.
Regarding being a qualified driver, the most fun I ever had was a one week training course on evasive driving techniques while I was in the army. High-speed driving and evasive action on a military airfield.
@helgeg It does, yes 🥰
Regarding the army course, what if you had to evade an attack on a country road? Or somewhere other than an airfield? I would love to take that course, but how many attacks happen when you’re calmly driving down an airfield? 😅🤣
@maique True that, the airfield was for practicing the techniques in relative safety (with ample space on both sides of the car). Other parts of the training involved how to position the car on the road, how to block other cars, and how to respond to attacks.
@helgeg I’m joking, of course, but this is something I would have enjoyed doing, back in the day.
At one point we even discussed it, for a different reason: in the past we used to drive at seriously dangerous speeds while working, when covering the elections. Campaigning was always a high speed affair, before the public made that come to an end because it was just stupid, and the policemen who were doing the security of the caravan would give us tips, trying to prevent yet another accident (we had a lot of those). We were the ones attacking ourselves, in a way 😅
@maique Yes, it was. When I wasn't driving, I was an administrative asssistant doing payroll and other office duties. I was stationed in an old fortress in the center of Bergen, had a nice office, and was driving a black Mercedes. Not exactly the hard army life! 🤣
@helgeg Hahahaha. Can’t complain about mine as well, serving the proud Portuguese navy locked in a safe room, handling top secret communications 🤣🤣
@helgeg That looks amazing! I was stationed at an old convent (in Rua das Trinas), nicer than a regular post, but it pales when compared to your place.
@maique Yes, it is a very picturesque place, with roots back to around the year 1200. The location is fantastic, on the waterfront of Bergen harbour. On a side note, the coffee machine in the office was running constantly, and it is where I cemented a serious coffee habit.
@helgeg And where I’ll see Iron Maiden next summer. 🤘
