Trying to watch some MLB. The gambling ads really tick me off. Does nobody like the game for the sake of the game?

@dwalbert I started off a bit like C.S.Lewis, who said that if somebody wanted him to gamble, he'd say "How much do you hope to win? Here: take it and go away." But these TV gambling ads seem to be aimed at — let's just say a demographic that can't really afford to lose any more. So exploitive!

@frankm Maybe Joe Biden can pardon him?  There is now precedent that what used to be bad is now virtuous…

@ReaderJohn College boys, I have heard, and had confirmed by my stepson who just graduated. But I imagine young working class men too. As an app on a phone I don't see how it can be anything other than addictive. If you like baseball on the radio, MLB audio is only $25 a year, and I find the gambling commercials are rare, and less obnoxious when they run—people who listen to baseball on the radio being not the audience for those apps, I guess.
