@numericcitizen I've no doubt in my mind that people like Viticci knows very well why iPadOS is the way it is. That doesn't really change the fact that Apple should've fixed it yesterday. (Many readers probably don't, though - so I like your post!)

And one thing is background processes - but they could've added stuff like Font Book, smart folders, customising of hotkeys, setting default apps, and proper audio support, a long time ago.

There's plenty of ways the iPad could get more powerful and flexible, that's not just becoming a Mac. (Because that's not what Viticci is asking for.)

@Havn Well, there are many missing apps and Apple could have added most of them a long time ago and I find this to be Apple being just a little bit stupid here. Calculator, TextEdit, etc could have been made there way on the iPad. Apple can be stubborn.

@numericcitizen Yeah - and by themselves, they're not very large issues. But it's, as Viticci put it: "Inefficiency by a Thousand Cuts". And my point is that many of the cuts could be avoided without going into the stuff you write about here. Maybe it was me just reading what you wrote wrong, but I felt a bit like you dismissed the issues, by pointing to the underlying architecture of iPadOS. It's absolutely a factor - but doesn't sufficiently explain Apple's negligence.

@Havn got ya! I'm not perfectly fluent in English... but yeah... there are fundamental issues and UI / apps issues... sometimes both are linked both sometimes they aren't.

@numericcitizen The decisions Apple has made are not just technology architecture decisions, but also business decisions. It's not worth it to Apple to allocate FTEs (or percentages thereof) to developing these "missing" apps because they being missing is not preventing sales.
