In some ways we may have a reformation taking place today in the United States. @frankm I agree that the Internet and services like Twitter and Facebook are offering more people to directly broadcast their opinions to more people, and that is having an effect on political participation. My hope is that this will not result in democracy not working due to too many opinions/voices...we will have to see how it goes...

@frankm by "too many voices", I mean that we might not be able to reach concensus on issues through dialog and compromise (too many groups wanting different things).

@AndySylvester Direct democracy disintermediates representative democracy, and I think Internet culture has people thinking that all disintermediation is good.
