🎵 The venom of people writing how they hate Water’s new take on DSOTM is quite extraordinary. Not going to bother engaging with them … but, for the record 😂 I think it is quite brilliant … And the videos allow you to truly let those amazing words sink in.

@JohnPhilpin No venom here, but it just isn’t landing for me. Not even close. But a) I have a harder time separating art from artist when the artist is still alive, and b) it happens…not all music is for everyone and maybe this will open up to a future me.

@chrislott oh that just fine .. horses, for courses, vive la difference and all that … that’s why music is so wonderful .. something for everyone …and I myself don’t like certain artists, certain genres … but there isn’t a need to get nasty and personal.

For me this man continues to be relevant, reimagining and imagining, using his position to take a stance in a way that I see very few 20, 30 year olds do … much less 80 year olds. (Macca and Neil aside).

@JohnPhilpin In the abstract it's great. In the particulars of this case, I wish he would focus on creating truly new music (and less spoken word). I naturally incline toward covers and reimagining songs but these don't really resonate. For me, it's more interesting as a point of philosophical and consideration of career arcs and creativity than the music itself is.
