I don’t care if 30% of traffic is mobile I still prefer blog themes that have a sidebar. You can put stuff in a sidebar. No sidebar is limiting.

@bradenslen Agree. Web sites are supposed to adapt to the capabilities of the user’s browser, aren’t they? If a page can use more space in a better way, then do it!

Also: this is why hamburger menus were invented. On mobile, you look for the sidebar stuff packed in there.

@fgtech The thing that gets me is the mass fashion. For example sidebars go out of fashion. The next year all the sidebar themes disappear from Wordpress. Its like all or nothing.

@bradenslen Yeah, that’s pretty annoying and stupid. Fashion has a place, but if it starts trying to alter the design too much then it’s getting too big for its britches.
