TIL that starting with the iPhone 12 the personal hotspot only ‘advertises’ WiFi on 5GHz. This prevents older and simpler devices from connecting to it. The “Maximize Compatibility” feature adds 2.4GHz which is universal. Would have been nice if the text for that toggle actually mention... ronguest.net
