Finished reading: The Dead Zone by Stephen King 📚

I love the way King has characters reference his own other work. “Like in that book, Carrie!”

Another, as W. puts it, compulsively readable book. A little chilling in its political prescience, really.

@KimberlyHirsh Is the ending satisfying? I've always felt let down by King's endings. They always seem rushed and anticlimactic. I'm always at the end thinking, "So what now?"

@ezellwrites I mean, based on what you're saying, I doubt you would find it entirely satisfying. It's more about the journey for me - and especially in The Dead Zone, there's a long, slow build to the climax and then a precipitous denouement, but I was happy with it.

@KimberlyHirsh Maybe I’ll give it a try at some point. King is such an amazing writer. His books are so well-crafted. But, they seem to miss my mark in ways I find hard to describe. I still appreciate his skill. It’s awe-inspiring at times.

@ezellwrites I'm impressed by how he can be evocative and spare at the same time.
