Working on my first new script in many years. It’s a very personal piece. I’m not sure how well it actually play. The characters seem to have found themselves quickly. Their voices and demeanors have jumped right out. Even the complexity between them has been immediate.
@ezellwrites not surprised it's personal, those are usually the ones who come easy, cos there's a latent story you've been wanting to tell already waiting.

@warner Agreed. The trick for me is always to figure out the turn that makes the personal something a little more accessible. There's room for ultra-personal art that no one else "gets" but you. But, I am trying to write a play that folks would want to watch. I think it has to rise above simple catharsis and say something about the people in it and/or the world they inhabit.
