@areyouageek just reading your about page and you are a “streak runner”. Was it one stretch of time or are you still going? Also, when you did it or are doing it is there a specific miles or minutes per day or just some running each day? Did a streak myself once so I am curious.
@ericmwalk My streak started on May 1, 2014. I originally planned for 30 days, which was bumped to 90 days, then 100 days -- and I just never stopped. A bit over 7 years now.
The United States Running Streak Association requirements call for a minimum of 1 mile per day. Over the years I've averaged close to 5 miles per day, and since November 2019 I haven't run anything less than 5 miles.
How was your streak?
@areyouageek awesome! Mine was just over a year and it was a 5k a day wrote about it here. I guess I only stopped because I wanted to start running longer but it was hard to make the adjustment to not running daily and I do miss it. I might have to fall back into the daily running after the Marathon I am scheduled to run coming up. Also, thanks for the heads up about the US Running Streak Association as I really had no idea it existed. Funny there is an actual Association for it but also really cool.
@ericmwalk Interesting discussion - no idea there was an association. I don’t run every day - generally 6 days a week on the fells. Not sure you would have heard of him but the great UK runner Ron Hill died recently. His streak was a mind-boggling 52 years 39 days.
He designed clothing as well - for a certain generation of climbers (and mountain types generally) no hill outfit was complete without a pair of ‘Ron Hills’. I still wear mine for running in the winter.
