@amerpie Regarding using Karabiner for Hyperkey + a letter to launch apps, isn't it simpler and more convenient to use Fn key + letter? I use BetterTouchTool for this.

Fn is typically at the lower left corner and easier to reach/locate than the Caps lock key.
