Without an empathetic society, we lack a strong reason to learn or engage in challenges that do not directly affect us; we struggle to abstract ideas with emotional and experiential ties. Without education, however, it can be a challenge to develop empathy for something we know nothing about. Empathy and education are intertwined- one begets the other. At the same time, we need to better understand what is and is not empathy, and how the ways we process empathy or learn to employ it can differ across neurodiversities. This blog serves as a home base for musings on empathy, education, and everything in between. Its goal is to find (and build!) communities dedicated to understanding how to approach empathy most effectively across identities, abilities, and experiences. (Author she/they)
