I have been thinking about a few different blogs that I want to start writing. But I’m going to go the route if keeping things simple. Just write on my personal site and use categories for what would have otherwise been separate sites entirely.

@aa Jason Kottke once called his blog „a collection of hundreds of small blogs“ (https://kottke.org/16/09/kottkeorg-the-fall-2016-edition), which are discoverable through tags and categories. I think that‘s a really good description for personal, non-thematic blogs.
@eay yes, that is a perfect description! I always get so focused on the branding, design, functionality, and other related things that the actual writing of the blog(s) never happens. I just keep tweaking. Thanks for the link, I will give it a read!
