I feel like the combination of micro.blog and write.as is going to be a match made in fediverse-heaven.
I feel like the combination of micro.blog and write.as is going to be a match made in fediverse-heaven.
@dan How/why would you combine them? 🤔
(I've been on write.as previously. I like it! But I feel Micro.blog, which I'm moving over to as we speak, can do everything write.as can.)
@havn yes, micro.blog can do everything. I have the rss from my two write.as blogs importing into micro.blog at social.danielmrose.com (the $12/mth at write.as gets me three blogs and three newsletters) so being able to syndicate two blogs into the one micro.blog is smooth.
@badjesusfollower yeah my guy. I think it’s going to be a slick combo.
@dan I guess the question was, why do you need write.as in addition? The answer might be that you want many blogs. 🙂
@havn two reasons: 1) I have two different blogs. One that is short and daily. One that is longer and weekly. With separate email lists. 2) I want to keep my main url: danielmrose.com pretty clean from micro posts.
@dan Yeah, that's fair!
(I'm trying to section off the micro posts from my "proper" blog, all in Micro.blog - but we'll see how that goes. 😅)
Are you going to post your blog to micro.blog now, or are you just using micro.blog for microblogging? Should I add an RSS feed to your micro.blog to my feed reader, or would that just be all your "toots?"
Help a brother out. ;)
@dan Here’s what I'm trying to do:
The image is an example post, in the categories «Good Stuff». «Slow Fashion» and «English». 👇🏻
(I my long posts either the «English» tag or the «Norwegian» tag.)
And my front page consists of only posts from the «English» category (so no Norwegian, and no micro posts), and I have a separate page with only Norwegian long posts.
But as you can see, I've hidden the language tags from users, so you only see the other two tags! 😊
@dan Next I will make a separate "Micro blog" page, where I'll make a feed of only the micro posts (and I think I'll add a link to replies there as well).
The only thing missing, is I wish I could have more than one newsletter on Micro.blog - so people could subscribe to either all English or all Norwegian long posts.

Yeah, I like Gluon as well! I just have this one issue, with these margins... 🙃
Icro is also very close to great!
(2/2)
@dan I will give you a ping when it’s done! But you can poke around on havn.blog if you feel like looking at something very unfinished. 😅
@rl_dane current blog rss will stay as is.
However, those blogs rss are being syndicated here. So if you grab the rss for social.danielmrose.com you can have micro and long form posts in one feed. This will act as social hub for me. Does that make sense?
Ok, so you have two feeds, one for blog-only, and one for blog-and-microblog?
@havn I wish icros was updated more often. Looks like it is a stale project with the last update being three years ago.
@rl_dane yes (three feeds technically).
One feed for thekjd.net (mostly daily spiritual thoughts)
One feed for danielmrose.com (weekly-ish 1000+ word entries)
One feed for social.danielmrose.com (the whole of everything)
Got it!
Sorry, my multitude of accounts must be confusing. I promise I'm not trying to become the next @badjesusfollower ;)
