Japanese and German pen makers have wildly different ideas of what “fine” means. Pilot Custom 823 on the left and Pelikan M400 on right. Both Fine nibs.
@patrickrhone I expected them to be different, but not quite so different. It has me wondering if my "scratchiness" issues with the Pilot are simply due to how fine it is (along with my left-handedness). I may ask to exchange it for a medium.
@jack Perhaps. I like EF nibs because I have tiny handwriting but I always go with an F if it’s a Japanese brand.
@Pilchuck A F-C EF with a SIG? I switched a TWSBI Aurora nib (my first nib accident) with a F-C Fine nib with a SIG grind, and that slices into paper if I'm not very careful with my hand position. Still not sure if it's me or the nib, and, if it's the nib, how much I should fiddle with it.
