We’re not getting a dog! (If you’re my kids, keep scrolling!)

Ok now that they’re gone: if you have a dog, how did you decide on a breed or mix to get? Latest we seem to be moving towards is some sort of labradoodle / Aussiedoodle mix?

Not getting one though. Obviously.

@iChris

We have a black female Goldendoodle. My wife wanted one because her mother has doodles and they generally have good temperaments for families. Ours also doesn’t shed, which is nice. However, she has a high prey drive and is more aggressive than we were expecting toward some other dogs, which I think must be a poodle thing. Also count on a $100 groomer bill every 3 months or so.

@bryan 100%! We have a labradoodle and she’s exactly the same. Beautiful, loving dog, but she thinks she’s super important (not even the most important dog in the house!) and dumb as a bag of rocks, which made her really hard to train.

I’d honestly recommend a (chocolate!) lab. They’re the absolute sweetest dogs in the world, they wouldn’t hurt a fly, and they’re SO easy to train because they’re obsessed with food!

@iChris our next dog will definitely be smaller, most likely a Cavapoo. Although not as smart, they’re a lot easier to manage.

@dfr I can identify with something obsessed with food. lol

I've heard they (chocolate labs) shed a lot which would be a bigger turn off than being trainable I think. But might be a good trade in the long run.

@iChris I’ve had two of them and neither shed as much as I expected. If you just run the hoover around and clear out under their crate, you’ll be fine! Be more worried about muddy paws!
