Out of context: I’ve had two relationships end pretty badly. The first one had me leave and move 50 miles away at a culmination of abuse, capping off a decade-long relationship. The second was a much shorter relationship but was with an alcoholic. Both these experiences dictate a lot in my life.

@anniegreens it’s weird that alcohol is so normalised. Statistically speaking we just don’t drink and it’s crazy to me how many people over indulge, or worse

@dfr it is so normalized that it is just expected/a given at any company event too, or gathering for meetups and such; vary hard to avoid and altogether a bad pairing with in many situations, and I feel badly for people who want/have to attend these types of things but are trying to avoid it

@anniegreens absolutely. The default when you’re going out to meet someone is for a drink and I’m like.. also coffee 🤷‍♀️ there’s no good reason to get drunk around your colleagues in a work setting, for sure!
