@dfj Thanks for posting. That was the year I got my first modem and internet service. (I had a 14400 baud US Robotics modem, on a Commodore Amiga 2000). I had trouble setting Mosaic up in the start, so I continued to use Gopher until I got a PC in 1995, and installed Netscape Navigator.

@odd @bobwertz I was young enough in 94 that I don’t have many direct memories of the web then, but I love reading about the early days of the web. My earliest memories were getting online with Prodigy and a (I think) 2400 baud modem. I remember some very slowly loading websites from that time!

@dfj Prodigy + a 24ooh bps modem was my first introduction to the online world in 1993 and that was all it took to get me hooked.

@dfj I started college in 93 and worked in a computer lab on campus. I remember using the beta versions of Netscape and visiting some of these websites.

@dfj Yes, some sirupy ones for sure. Most people were oblivious to image formats and loading times back then I think.
