What’s the best domain?

Surname? First Name?

Both First Name & Surname?

Or something else you like?

@derekpeden mine is Philpin.com - owned it for a loooong time - I also have Philpin.net .... I know John Philpin ... another one - has JohnPhilpin.com partly because he couldn’t buy Philpin.com - but then again he is famous for his name ... I however can give personal emails to family members so they are <their-name>@philpin.com ... and of course I also have John.philpin.com - which if I wanted to I could set up a redirect to point Philpin.com to john.philpin.com

I think it all comes down to a combination of brand and ease of acquisition ... smith.com might not be available but XavierSmith.com ... and of course - you are no longer stuck with just .com ....

@derekpeden FirstNameSurname.com - if you want to use it for personal blog. And if it is available.

For every other purpose, whatever’s available and easy to remember. It just doesn’t matter there.

@JohnPhilpin sounds like I stick with derekpeden.com for the serious stuff and sub domains for micro blog and main blog

@derekpeden /me is a hangover from IRC days, where the software would replace it with your nickname, so "kitt eyes the dozens ..."

Actually, not a hangover. Still works perfectly well in IRC
