@decarbonization An interesting read, thanks. I haven’t tried any Pine64 hardware yet, but it sounds tricky! Manjaro runs great on my Surface Pro, and I’ll probably get a Framework laptop for my next machine.
@decarbonization cheers. For what it’s worth, I’ve had no problems with my pinephone. I think it’s just down to level of interest in the community. I’m impressed that Linux runs on your Surface Pro – when I was in the Microsoft hardware ecosystem there were no drivers!
@decarbonization There’s a special Surface Kernal now. The webcam and touch don’t work, unfortunately, but I hear touch may be resolved. 🙂
@Cheri sounds very reasonable! If you do upgrade to a Framework laptop, I hope you’ll blog about it. I considered going that route before settling on a used thinkpad, but it’s quite an investment 😅
@timapple I write fiction in LibreOffice, although I save my files as .docx, not .odt. Most (human) editors use Word and happily LO is compatible with “tracked changes”.
I’m using Tiddlywiki for durable notes like outlines, research, and character sheets.
I used to use Scrivener on Windows, and it was nice software, but I like my current setup better. 🙂
