Thinking of selling my two reMarkable Paper Pros. It’s a love/hate thing. They are beautifully made and I think hit a sweet spot for e-ink writing but don’t really fit the way I use tech.

@ddykstal I find the mini my perfect form factor for my outputs .. my main inputs via my Mac .. I have a bigger iPad that I thought I would use more than I do .. increased portability over the Mac etc .. but no .. but I do wonder if one day one of the giant screen only iPads might be an interesting addition to my input collection .. but budget / need etc .. that all said though the ‘paper like’ aspect would add to a yes .. but I really don’t like any kind of stuff on screens or bodies of my devices.. and I hear nothing that Apple might be thinking about Sherlocking the Remarkable .. but if they did .. it might tie more closely to my APPle centric world. Or is remarkable more integrated than it used to be?

@JohnPhilpin @ddykstal The e-ink tablet market is interesting in that there are several players each with their own take on the software design. For example, Remarkable is very focused on writing and don’t provide much in the way functionality beyond writing but Boox provides a full Android tablet that enbles one to run any Android app, for good or bad. I’ve settled on the Viwoods AI Paper Mini due to its 8-inch size and full Android app support.

@frankm I found the Daylight DC-1 to have a lack of that kind of focus. I would imaging the Boox (or any other Android based tablet) to have the same issue. I really like the reMarkables focus on writing and drawing, but it turns out that the interoperability I would like isn’t there. For example, I’d like to cut a rectangle of writing and paste it as a PNG or JPEG with a common clipboard. I can do that with 3rd party tools but it’s extra steps. Or, I’d like to write and post a page either as written or converted to Day One, but the conversion from handwriting to text, while reasonably accurate, is clumsily formatted and correcting that on the tablet is a pain.

@JohnPhilpin I’m beginning to find myself picking up the mini much more often. I think the big iPad and keyboard are going to be replaced by a MacBook Air. I may even be able to give up the MacBook Pro in addition. I’m going for lighter weight and fewer devices as I get older.

@ddykstal I move around a lot .. so a Big Mac screen is important .. since I can’t guarantee that I am beside an external monitor most of the the time .. I would love my phone to be smaller .. if I also have a mini .. I don’t want a giant phone to be the phone and a replacement mini. So generally with you.
