Daughter's partner turned up unannounced on our doorstep at 09.30 Sunday morning to ask for our blessing to get married. Wasn't expecting that!

@andyc slightly concerned it’s taken you so long to inform us… Or did you take him to The Willoughby for a talk?

@andyc Those are not proper hours for that unless He was coming from a night of gathering liquid braveness.
Is that still a thing in UK?
If you say no will they run away like in the movies or what?

I find it odd that you haven’t told us what your reply was 😉

@andyc my father-in-law drew the conversation out for half an hour.

@alan I said 'Yes' and gave him the De Niro Fockers 'I'm watching you' gesture by pointing to my eyes.

Seriously though, he's a nice chap and more importantly is a Northerner and a Red.

@alan Yes. Great indeed.

Apart from the fact, many years ago, my daughter didn't like the bridesmaid dress for my sisters wedding. I encouraged her to relent and promised her 'Listen, when it gets to your wedding, you can have any thing you want, any venue, any food, all the guests. Money no object. Just wear this dress, please'.

She often drags that quote out :-)
