I am a Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Dundee. I am primarily interested in researching how accounting influences, and is influenced by, the everyday lives of individuals within contemporary society. Specifically, I am interested in the role that calculative technologies play in the cultural shifts and transitions that underpin our contemporary lives, particularly within the creative and cultural industries. This formed the basis of my PhD thesis as I investigated the transformative role that accounting played within the British music industries throughout the historically important period of the 1960s. My interest in accounting history as resulted in me becoming a member of the executive committee of the British Accounting and Finance Association’s Accounting History Special Interest Group, and forms the core of my future research plans. I am also currently co-editing a textbook titled Financial and Management Accounting: An introduction with Professor Pauline Weetman.
