So, if M1 Macs can run some iOS apps as well as Mac apps, and the iPad Pro now uses an M1 chip…

…WWDC is going to be really interesting this year, isn’t it?

@adders I’ve got high hopes for pro-level apps and some much better external display support. I could probably throw my hat back into the “iPad is my main computer” ring again if they did all that.

@dandycat @adders With a thunderbolt port on this thing there should be no more excuse to not have proper display support, including across all apps. There are already apps that can use the full, non-pillarboxed, external screen real estate, so here’s hoping it’s OS-wide.

@pimoore My great hope is that proper external display support won’t require a brand new iPad Pro purchase. I just got mine last year and would like to not have to spend a large amount of money again. I may be wishing for too much, but it would be nice to get it for free in iPadOS 15.

@adders exactly! full-featured Mac apps have no reason not to run on M1 iPad Pro except for the UI design

@odd that is what I am hoping for this WWDC

@odd @rom Seems likely, except it will be the Mac version running on the iPad instead of a complete rewrite.

@pimoore well, if the current beta is to be used as basis, yes. However, WWDC is when another XCode beta is announced/released. :)
