@cygnoir Whenever I realise just how much rest our two appear to get and think about how content they seem to be most of the time, my question is always: why aren't we building a world with more time for rest?

@simonwoods I think your question was rhetorical, but I’m salty about the topic so I’ll answer anyway: because capitalism is designed to make us feel that we have to “earn” rest instead of acknowledging it as an intrinsic need of all beings.

@cygnoir Which is why cats should be in charge... I mean more than they already are.

@cygnoir @simonwoods I'm also salty on the topic. Agreed and would add, capitalism is designed to make us feel a lot of things at our expense (in every possible meaning of that word). We can never work enough, consume enough or feel insecure enough. It is, after all, a system largely based on continual growth regardless of the social-ecological problems that may cause.

@Denny @simonwoods Yes! Thank you, Denny. As I slowly disengage myself from one aspect of capitalism (standards of feminine beauty) I notice this more and more. When I stop feeling insecure about how I look, I stop buying products to “fix” myself.
