📱 First world problem. I am considering whether to replace my loved iPhone 13 Mini with a new phone. The battery capacity of the Mini is down to 81%. I had it on low power mode all day yesterday in Honolulu. It made it through the day, just, though I didn’t use it too much and my wife dealt with Ubers on h... www.crossingthethreshold.net

@crossingthethreshold Hard choice. I just upgraded from the iPhone 13 Pro Max to the iPhone 17 Pro. Thanks to my own assumptions and misreading the specs I was very surprised that it’s smaller than the old one. I wanted the much better camera (and love the 8x zoom). I’ve never deleted so many photos in my life though as the dedicated camera button and my (newbie) misuse of it mean I take endless photos of my foot, the carpet, etc. This thing is so small and has so many hardware buttons I never know how to pick it up. I do like it but think I may wish I’d bought the Max for its larger size. (Says the person who wasn’t sure about going from the 5 to the 6 years ago because it was so much bigger…)

@Miraz Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience. I can relate to some of what you have said. My wife & I were in the Apple store in Honolulu yesterday. She had (has….I will be moving her over to the new phone tonight) and iPhone 13 Pro. I was surprised at the small(ish) size of the iPhone 17 Pro. It almost warmed me to buying it!

I’m going to have to do a little more research and think ahead to how I might use the phone going forward. I do enjoy writing, and when I am not by my MacBook Air, I sometimes wish for a larger screen (though I do love my little phone). I thought that a larger phone could be a small iPad (which I do not own and don’t plan on buying). As I said before, “Oh Decisions!” 😉

@crossingthethreshold It’s such an individual decision. I find writing on the iPhone immensely annoying. I’ve had an iPad for years and years and its main use is for displaying recipes when I cook, or occasionally checking something when I’m in bed. I’m a true Mac user, I think. 😀

@Miraz You are right. One person’s winning feature, might be another person’s loss maker. I was talking to someone in the Apple Store yesterday about the iPhone Air. I could tell he loved the phone, or was trying to sell me one 😜, and some of his praises were deal breakers in a couple of reviews that I had read of that model.

@Miraz Just returning to this comment from you. Do you still wish that you bought the Max? If so, can I ask why?

@crossingthethreshold Hah. This question took me by surprise. In the month I’ve used the 17 Pro I’ve pretty much totally got used to the shape and size. I now seldom press that camera button by mistake. I’d completely forgotten my initial wish I’d bought the Max. I’m very happy with the Pro. Good follow-up. I was also able to buy an inexpensive leather slip case from Etsy (made in Ukraine) that works perfectly with it.

@Miraz Oh sorry to catch you by surprise. I’m pleased that you are happy with your Pro now. I asked as I put an order in for one today and am now wondering if I would like a Max? 🤦🏼‍♂️😅

@crossingthethreshold Oh, no problem re the surprise. It surprised me only because I’d forgotten my initial reservations. 😆 I hope you enjoy yours.
