@cliffordbeshers Tree bark?
@cliffordbeshers A piece of driftwood? Or, I guess, since you are usually in a more arid climate, a fallen branch naturally sun bleached and sand blasted free of bark over time, perhaps?
@cliffordbeshers I’d presume that those are knots, where branches were starting or had broken off.
@cliffordbeshers Ooh, that stumps me. Which makes me excited because I think I’m going to learn something now!
@cliffordbeshers Okay, I think I’m more stumped now. Those nubs are not branches, but what are they? This looks more like a whole tree trunk than I was expecting. This may be a kind of tree I’m not familiar with.
@fgtech I believe it is a Honey Locust that died from being burned in 2015. The locust trees have thorns that jut out from the trunk, and I think those bumps are the roots of the thorns, normally covered by bark.
@cliffordbeshers Thorns make perfect sense! I’ve never seen them sticking out the trunk of a tree though, so that’s what tripped me up. Cool photo and fun puzzle. Thank you!
