How can I invite someone into a community that doesn’t recognize the power and violence of language, asymmetrically deployed by the privileged against the othered, that doesn’t truly respect the individual?

@issimonwoods Now there is someone who I miss. I came across Smokey’s name just the other day and wondered where he was.
@Munish It was a mess, and I haven't seen anything like it since. Due to how threads become orphaned in the wake of account deletion, it's now easier to forget it.
@crossingthethreshold I'm annoyed at myself for not getting to know him better, via email and the like.
@issimonwoods I missed this whole chain of events as I wasn’t here at the time, but it’s unfortunate to read that people felt bad enough that they had to leave. I happen to follow Sameer’s blog, and he’s an excellent writer. Sad that he’s no longer here.
