I’ve tried to scale back my media consumption recently. My RSS client feels empty, and it’s weird not to check social media as much. Every time I think about stepping it back up, though, it just stresses me out.

@spgreenhalgh I quit Twitter a few months back and today is the last day on Reddit, is good just to sit back and enjoy some silence. Or even get bored. I keek reading RSS but a lot less sources than before. Just what i really want to read. Hope it gets better for you.

@spgreenhalgh Recently I’ve been trying to consume less and even produce less to see how it feels to define myself by all the other things in my life.

@spgreenhalgh has this exact feeling when I deactivated my Twitter account. I’m mostly down to feed reader + Mastodon and a once-daily scan of Apple News. Any more than that seems overwhelming

@josheron Thanks! Truth be told, it hasn't been bad, just an adjustment. And yes, the screw ups of the social media platforms makes these decisions so much easier!

@content I really liked getting into Mastodon, but it eventually felt like too much, too. I still post there (via M.b), but I've been surprised by how easy it's been to just... not check it.

@spgreenhalgh yup I agree it’s easy not to check. I kinda like that because I can dip in and right back out every now and then, without feeling like I’m pulling a dopamine slot machine like I was when refreshing Twitter to address my FOMO
