Just downgraded iCloud and Drive to their least expensive plans. Sick of dealing with the cloud. I’m now investing in my own storage.

@cdevroe what was your issue with the cloud, out of curiosity? 🤔
@colmulhall iCloud Photo Library doesn't allow family sharing. And Google Photos “lost" 400GB of my photos and videos.
@cdevroe I've been lucky with both, but then again I only have a photo library of ~20GB. Once the trust is broken with these services it's hard to regain it!
@colmulhall Things happen. I get it. And I always have backups. But I cannot get through to anyone at Google. I pay as much as they allow and I still cannot get to anyone. That is my sign to leave.
@cdevroe Seems pretty poor from Google. Hopefully you have better luck with your own storage.
@cdevroe it doesn't support family sharing? I thought it did, except for the 99ct plan. That's a bummer. I thought this would be a solution for me 🤔
@cdevroe damn... just read the docs. „Family Sharing“ means a single album you have to manually add photos to. That’s not really what I would expect 😐
@hutaffe Precisely. My wife and I use the same photo library so I would want it to be a truly shared library. For now I'm using Photos on a single iMac backed up to several HDs and the cloud. That should do for now.
@hutaffe I actually quite prefer the way it's set up now…we share the pics that are worth sharing in the “family” album, and it keeps all the random stuff (screenshots, pics of receipts, whiteboards, and parking spaces) out of the family albums
