Ordered an August Smart Lock Pro with the keypad for my new place. Excited to try it (assuming the deadbolt is compatible). One thing I found out is that if you have an Apple TV, you don’t need to buy their August Connect hub, which lowers the price by $70.

@collin I've been considering one of those, but found it really hard to tell from their website what aspects of it require the Connect hub. I'll be interested to see whether anything is missing in your experience...

@kemayo The quote I read online was that the Connect "doesn't enable any additional scenarios" if you have an Apple TV.

@collin this motivated me to chat with their support. I’m told that the Connect (or their video doorbell) allows Google Home / Alexa integration, and updates to the activity log in their app, but that the Apple TV lets you do remote unlocking just fine.
