@adders I was reading a piece about the 5 Gyre's recently and that just 10 rivers are responsible for over 90% of the plastic that reaches the oceans. The scale involved is truly shocking.

@colinwalker Most of what we get here is English Channel waste. We get some French packaging, for example.

@colinwalker @adders While that statistic is true, it also hides the fact that most developed countries ship their waste to countries where those rivers are to avoid environmental regulations in their own countries.

@pratik @adders Very true. It's been quite amusing to see certain countries refuse to process UK waste any more and send it back. We need to face up to our own issues!
