The new SE is too big. Thankfully my original model is holding up fine. If I am pressed into a newer phone due to loss of functionality then I’ll get the best new option and keep it for 4 years.
Then, if I want a smaller screen I’ll give the Apple Watch a go.
@simonwoods my current SE is chunky in its Otterbox–like case; how much bigger a new iPhone SE/older 8 would be similarly enclosed I need to investigate…
@cn Yeah that’s a big part of the equation. One way to guarantee any new phone lasts for longer is to use a case, and at that point even the smallest phone is so big for me that they’re all just phablets.
At this point I’m no longer interested in thinking of it as a reliable, nimble, multi-talented assistant; since I think of it in a different way, I’m going to treat it in a different way.
