Photographed a PhD defense today. Quickly went home to make a print for the party, my plan was a strong portrait. @jemostrom This is why I refuse any requests for photographing events. Way too stressful.

@cliffordbeshers I have to admit that i rather like it, especially if I’m allowed to walk around and take the photos I like. A month ago I got asked to take photos by my department, exactly this type of photos … as long as they get some photos that can be used for marketing/information. They want photos that aren’t micro stock, people staring at a screen, or arranged. They want real-life photos, and they don’t care if the photos are non-perfect.

Exactly the stuff I like, so I’m quite happy.

@jemostrom My problem is that I care if the photos aren’t perfect. And they never are, given the challenging circumstances.

@cliffordbeshers Yep, I know that feeling, but I’ve started to come to terms with my photos always lacking in some respect and that I need to improve. That, and realizing that many photos are worse than my photos.

And, to be honest, as long as my recent photos are better than those I took two years ago, I’m happy. I will get worried when I don’t think I can improve anymore.
