@joshua what a great idea! Though my wife and I are both from fairly traditional families, we weren’t interested in the aisle-and-Pachelbel’s-Canon wedding thing, so we rented a cheapish space in the nearby city park, treated it like a cocktail party for 100 guests, hired a loud Cajun band, and had a friend—the “priest” who delivers the invocation for the New Orleans Running of the Bulls—do a quick ceremony (that we wrote) in the middle of the room during set break. We paid him in whiskey. Everyone said it was a perfectly “us” wedding, even the traditionalists! Good luck with the book!
