“Asteroid City” was cute, but I’m finding it increasingly difficult to get excited about new Wes Anderson films. His last truly great movie was “Fantastic Mr. Fox” in 2009, where he did something new and different. Everything since feels like self-parody.
@cleverdevil I think a lot of people feel the way you do. The only thing I liked about “Asteroid City” was its Wes Anderson-ness :). Personally, though, I hope he keeps doing his thing, his way, forever. :). And yeah, “Fantastic Mr. Fox” is so great.
@jack I enjoyed it too, it was really fun. Even if he just keeps making the same few movies over and over again, I’ll keep watching. But I hope he drops a few masterpieces in the mix :)
@cleverdevil Yeah, I hope he can find new ways to use his idiosyncrasies for more than just the “Oh, yeah, that’s Wes Anderson” stuff :)
