By the way, I think the reason that reviewers sound exasperated when reviewing the new iPad Pro is because the gap is so infuriatingly small and seemingly easy to close. USB storage and some improvements to Safari, and *bang*, you're there for most.

@cleverdevil depending on who the superset of ‘most’ is ... if we mean ‘people who use computing devices’ ... I think we are there .... not for higher end yet ... but def’ for mere mortals - there the challenge is convincing them that it does what they need ... it does ... it’s just that they aren’t convinced, haven’t thought about it, ‘need’ Windows ..... etc etc

@JohnPhilpin almost. My wife uses an iPad Pro as her primary computer and she is still too frequently having to return to her ancient laptop to get things done because of the features I mentioned. It’s definitely close though!

@cleverdevil I want there to be a viable programming experience both regarding Xcode and for Web programming. For all the power of the iPad and yet no IDEs that I know of provide autocomplete suggestions like the desktop counterparts do.

@EddieHinkle I would love that, but I don’t think it’s necessary to make the iPad Pro a viable laptop replacement for most people. I will say, I am excited about the idea of developing in vim via a terminal emulator app on an iPad Pro 😀

@cleverdevil Oh definitely not for most people. Just for me 😁 haha! We only have one computer right now and my first gen iPad Pro’s battery is constantly dying, so I’m trying to figure out if I get a second Mac Laptop, a desktop (iMac or Mac Mini) or new iPad Pro. I would go for the iPad but then programming is much trickier if my wife is using the current laptop, so then I start to think maybe I should be getting a laptop or desktop. No easy answer for me 😞

@cleverdevil I agree. With USB C, Bluetooth, and external display support, there is nothing technical stopping Apple from just building IDEs and other pro apps that work much like Mac apps. The market for such apps is small, and will remain so until Apple leads the way.
