@monday A favorite hike in Orange County, CA: Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, specifically the Serrano Ridge West Canyon Trail Loop. 7 miles, 1,020 ft. elevation gain.

@monday My modest goal is to complete this straight flat trail to the Nehalem Bay jetty where bay meets ocean. I’ve got some physical limitations so I have to slowly work up to a 4-mile walk. I’ve walked out a mile and back so far. I can’t wait to see that point!

@monday My favorite hike is usually whichever I most recently completed. There is so much great hiking to discover in Arizona. I'd really like to do Picacho Peak sometime soon.

@monday I enjoy hikes of 2 or 3 hours. Most often is the local beach but occasionally I travel elsewhere for variety. No real favourites yet but I did love Silica Rapids Walk - Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand where I went from the village to the Falls and back, from memory.

@monday yay for hiking! I’ve gotten to hike so many beautiful trails all over the US and Puerto Rico. One of my local (St Louis) favorites is Green Rock Trail which extends thru three nature reserves.

@monday I’m really hoping to do the Northville-Placid Trail as an intro to thru-hiking this year.

@monday I wouldn't describe myself as a hiker, but we do go for fairly short hikes in our travels. One favorite would be Landscape Arch in Arches National Park.

@monday 6 years ago, I proposed to my wife on a hike at the top of Cape Perpetua. The Oregon Coast is full of great hikes with dramatic views. Another one of my faves is Cape Lookout.

@monday Love hiking, although I'm only really a day hiker. Favourite hike would have to be Bushranger's Bay to Cape Shank lighthouse, just outside of Melbourne. Decent difficulty and length with some pretty lovely sights of the back beach.

@jean My problems with these "roll calls" is that people are either talking about having done an activity, or wanting to do an activity, but never about the activity itself. Unlike sport fans, sporters prefer to talk less, do more. One can talk a million miles about being a fan, since unlike doing something, talk is cheap.

@monday I’m loving the coastal walks around Sydney, especially at this time of year when the humpback whales migrate. Each year there’s more of them - a sign of hope. Sydney has to be one of the great hiking cities of the world.

@renevanbelzen They aren’t vehicles for detailed discussion. Just a place where people who identify themselves as interested can find and follow other people who like the same thing.

@monday one of my favorites nearby is Laurel Falls Trail. Started reading Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods recently and its inspired me to set a life goal of walking the Appalachian Trail from near home in Tennessee to its northern terminus in Maine.

@renevanbelzen I love to talk about hiking. I’m getting into it more and more, trying to expand the peaks I can climb at 57. Translated this guide to grading trails in Japan yesterday: cogley.jp/japan-mou...
