@jarrod Iām at 11,975 photos and 1,033 videos (and 1 item that I donāt know what it is, for some reason š)
I periodically delete photos and videos though. Do you do the same? :))
@chiawase I keep it somewhat curated, deleting screenshots, short-term memory stuff, and obviously bad shots. But I generally keep the rest since I donāt take a bunch of photos, despite what that number might imply. Lol
@mako Ahead in photos but lacking by half in videos! Do you feel that split as a photographer?
@jarrod ya know.. never really thought about it. Took waaay more videos when the kids were small. Now taking tons of panoramic for the Vision Proā¦
@mako Me too on the panos! Theyāre one of my favorite features, and since my phone canāt do spatial videosā¦
@jarrod A while back I imported all of my photos ever ā from old cameras, dumb-phones, and some scanned filmĀ ā into my iCloud Library, so I can view and search them all as one. So⦠š„⦠Iām at 133,386 photos and 2,199 videos. š«£
@andycarolan @maique @jarrod Power user? He owns Apples iCloud servers. šš
@habibcham @andycarolan @jarrod I donāt even own apples, letās alone Appleāsā¦
I do have to pay them ā¬10 a month, and it does add up š
@maique @andycarolan @jarrod I did some cleaning up after my birthday and Easter weekend snaps. This is my pathetic number. š
This Photos library only dates back to July of 2021. My Synology has a few stored on it dating back to 2003 when I got my first digital camera. (I really miss Aperture!)
@maique @andycarolan @jarrod Definitely more than I keep, thatās for sure. I get snap happy to cover all angles. If I snap 10 shots of the same thing, Iāll probably end up keeping two.
@maique That is nuts! Do you have a blogpost on your workflow? I am assuming you use something like Lightroom? Are there any good non-Adobe alternatives? I miss Aperture⦠š
@habibcham @andycarolan @jarrod Most times Iāll delete the ones I donāt edit, and keep the edited and original versions of the ones I do. As you, I delete more than I keep.
@chadkoh Lightroom, yes š I donāt remember if Iāve written about (probably have), but itās very simple:
Shoot (or import from camera); go through all of them and āfavoriteā the ones Iāll edit; load that into LR; edit most, ignore others;
Go back to camera roll, delete the ones that were not selected (not on favorites folder).
Upload edited ones to Flickr.
@maique @andycarolan @jarrod I think my brain has been wired to clean up my library since the early iPhones days with small storage memory.
More often I keep edited versions in my library and the original gets shifted to iCloud Files.
@maique š³ š³ š³ I was not expecting an order of magnitude higher, but I shouldnāt be surprised! š
@jarrod I should do a (MUCH) better job at cleaning this mess. A lot of that is not needed.
@jarrod Depends. Iāve also imported some of my scanned photos, so those go back to the date I was born. I got my iPhone in May 2009, so thatās the true iPhone photos start date.
@jarrod Iām at 45,630 photos at 2,186 videos. I have been shooting digital since 2001. I also have about 8,000 not yet imported from my Google Photos library. Thatās a project for after Easter break.
@jarrod Ha! I also have about 500 very old scans that my father made I need to index. Those will have to wait until my son is off from school and I can voluntell him to do them.
@plumey I did thousands of scans of my parentsā family photos a few years back. It was an undertaking, to say the least.
@jarrod oof, we only had about 1800 total and most were done last year. The problem with the last set is the dates. No one knows exactly when they were taken so we have to send them to a bunch of people to ādiscussā.
@jarrod Mostly family and Japan shots right now, I suppose. A sample: www.flickr.com/photos/saā¦
