@decarbonization Hurrah! I had AmigaDOS 3.1 somewhere, but I think I threw it away.

@cheesemaker @decarbonization I haven’t heard of GEOS before. Is that a OS for PCs?

The Amiga had 4096 colors, multitasking, and four-channel stereo audio already in 1985. Way ahead of PCs, but they lacked HDD as an option new, and they weren’t “100% IBM Compatible”. You could also have long file names (and more!) 🥹

@odd @cheesemaker GEOS is an operating system for the Commodore 64 and other 8-bit micros. There is definitely a strong resemblance, I want to say the Amiga software shipped first?

@odd @decarbonization Yeah my dad sadly purchase an Atari 1040 instead of the Amiga so I was sad…

@cheesemaker @odd The 1040 ST isn’t a bad machine, that’s what I’ll be sending to my friend in return for this A1000. I think the Atari ST just gets a whole lot less love in its afterlife compared to the Amiga

@decarbonization @odd Well for what it’s worth, my friend had an Amiga and we had the Atari and my friend had WAAAYYYY more software and games available to him. 🥴

@cheesemaker @odd Sounds pretty similar to my experience as a Mac user in the ‘90s and early ‘00s. At least I was able to take comfort in Mac versions of games usually being higher quality… 😆
